She enjoyed making sure others were happy and provided for. Janice was a true example of a selfless person who always put others ahead of herself. Janice was a faithful member of Peace Church in Wilson where she served in the children's ministry, the choir, and helped her husband lead a Sunday School class for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Abrams parents, Rufus and Bessie King, and brother Larry King. Janice is survived by her son, Stan Abrams and daughter-in-law Carol, and son, Phil Abrams grandsons, Jonathan Abrams (Mattie), Stephen Abrams and Christopher Abrams granddaughters, Caroline Kunz (Jon), Anna Grace Abrams and Kaitlin Abrams great-grandson, Camden Abrams and beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, brothers, and sisters- in-law. She was the owner of Janice's Beauty Shop in Smithfield, for many years and later worked at Furniture Corner and Wilson Christian Academy in Wilson. She graduated from Smithfield High School and attended Free Will Baptist Bible College in Nashville, Tennessee. Janice King Abrams was born and raised in Smithfield, North Carolina and was a proud native of Johnston County. at Joyner's Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson. We have seen that play out one too many times this year already, it has been a very deadly year. "The residents of Milwaukee deserve to feel safe, too many of them are able to illegally obtain guns and too many are resolving their conflicts with bullets. "As mayor, I am committed to the leadership and dedication needed to move the city towards security as well as prosperity," he said. He went on to say that Milwaukee has already seen multiple gun violence deaths this year. " aims to raise public awareness that firearms are the second leading cause of death for children and teens." "National Gun Violence Survivors Week is designed to honor and remember all victims and survivors of gun violence. "The city of Milwaukee proudly joins Moms Demand Action and community members in recognizing National Gun Violence Survivors Week during the week of February 1st to February 7th," Johnson said in his press conference. He said the purpose of the week was to show support for those who have suffered at the hands of gun violence and reaffirmed his commitment to tackling the issue. This shooting comes on the same day that the acting Milwaukee mayor, Cavalier Johnson, declared February 1- 7 to be National Gun Violence Survivors Week. Newsweek has contacted the Milwaukee Police Department and Rufus King High School for comment. The Milwaukee Police Department said they know the suspect they are looking for but no arrests have been made. Police said the three girls got into an altercation after leaving a basketball game at the school.
